Just a quick and dirty (no pun) review of CarPro Reload spray sealant...

A friend of mine (Connor Harrison, owner of CH Detailing in WI) has been doing professional detailing for a number of years, and turns out some FANTASTIC work. I told him that I had plans to detail the BRZ I just purchased, as I was quite a bit upset by the finish and lack of protection as it sat at the dealership under a tree. I knew I would be doing at least a two step polish, but was unsure whether I would compound, then two step polish, then seal or lay wax.

I did some shopping around and found some Chemical Guys products on sale, so decided to replenish my inventory. Ordered a "4 step" sampler kit of their liquid compounds and polishes, some new pads, some detailing towels, car wash soap, mitt, new foam cannon, new buckets with grit guards, and a new California blade. While I was waiting for it to come in, I had sent Connor a text asking what I should use to protect the finished product for at least a few months at a time. He immediately mentioned "CarPro Reload". He stated "Any idiot can apply it and it will protect for at least 4 months".

That last part is very important to me. I knew from the beginning that it would take me at least a day's work if not two, to clay, compound, and polish the car. I didn't want to spend another 2 hours applying a wax or wax-like sealant. Spraying on and wiping off seems too good to be true but I was willing to give it a go.

Once it came in, I shook it really well then tested a small area of the car (roadside mirror housing). It sprayed like a quick detailer, and then I wiped it down with one side of a MF towel. I didn't follow the online instructions, so didn't think to wipe off with the opposite side of the towel (dry side).

I did a quick water test and to my amazement, the droplets of water I had put on the housing literally formed into balls of H2O and rolled right off, leaving no trace of water behind! Okay, I'm a believer. But I decided I would do a larger surface area to test before applying the entire vehicle.

I then did the entire hood of the vehicle. You need to spray VERY CONSERVATIVELY. This product REALLY DOES GO A LONG WAY. If you saturate, you're wasting it! Once I finished with the hood, it was time for bed but I knew it would rain the next day.

So I hop in the car and head to work the following morning, and it's misting. The miserable "I don't want to rain, but I don't want to snow" kind of rain. I figured it'd be a good test to see how the moisture collects compared to the rest of the vehicle without a sealant applied.

By the time I got to work, the vehicle was nice and WET, aside from the hood. The hood shed the water so well that there was NO MOISTURE on the hood. It seemed funny because the fenders were not sealed and they had accumulations of moisture as soon as I stopped the vehicle, yet nothing accumulated on the hood.

Now I'm a full-on believer. The very next weekend I re-washed the car, and prepped the body to finish the sealant. It took literally 40 minutes to spray the vehicle's exterior from the front to rear, all plastic, glass, rubber, and painted surfaces got the treatment (I read to make sure it was safe to use on all surfaces).

When we get a nice day, I will wash the car again and take pictures of the beading, right before I use the sealant on the STi wheels



TLDR: If you're okay with $35/500mL, 4~6 months of protection, and the fact that you use maybe an 1/8th of the bottle for an entire BRZ, GET SOME CarPro Reload!

i actually have a bottle of Car Pro Reload that i havent even touched yet

right before the snow fall hit, here in Jersey, i gave the car a nice coat of Sonax Polymer net shield, gives the same affects and protects i guess to CarPro from videos ive seen,


im more excited for the spring time to get my Rupes polisher finally, im sick of using this damn Porter cable machine,

i keep telling myself that mine gets get job done and there really isnt any reason to spend the money but i keep finding myself every day reading up on them

There are definitely better options out there, but I myself won't upgrade because I can't justify the cost if the XP is working. Doing two cars MAYBE twice a year does little to justify new cleaning equipment I would of course like a 3" backing plate and maybe a 4" or 4.5" though!

Am I the only one who worries about using such a small amount of product with a dry microfiber, and buffing with a dry microfiber to remove it? I have all high quality micofibers, but seems like a possible way to introduce fine scratches.

I can assure you it's not a problem I had reservations, but my friend I mention above really gave me some courage.

PS - the quickest way to introduce swirling is to use towels contaminated with debris in a circular motion. If you spray on, wipe with the lines of the vehicle, and wipe off, you're doing even better.
