autocross and car insurance

Is anyone here insured with a company that openly knows that you participate in auto-cross events?

In BC we don't have many options, but it was pretty simple.
Yes they knew and no you were not covered

Not sure why you'd need coverage for autoX? Trackday sure.

Your regular policy will not cover anything that happens that involves racing or tacking your car in any way shape or form. Don't know if they would offer a separate policy for that, but can imagine it would be cheap!

that wasn't the question.

Our series has insurance for its competitors (even liability, so more than track insurance), but I’m talking about everyday insurance.

My policy is expiring and I started to call around companies, and they all ask “will the car be used for racing or rally competition” etc.

If you answer YES, you will be denied coverage.

If you LIE and they find out (although I personally have not been witness to such an event after 7 years in the field), then they can also cancel your policy.

So essentially, everyone that i know that does autocross or time attacks is lying to their insurance companies and will lose their policies should the insurers find out.

Which just may be the way things go. I know that everyone in OUR camp keeps their mouth shut, but maybe the insurance companies turn a blind eye as well, but we never get to hear their side of the story.

So the question is not about whether you will be covered or not, the obvious answer is no, you will not, i'm fully aware of that.

My question is has anyone here received coverage with their insurance provider openly knowing that they participate in timed events in their daily driven vehicle.

I've never seen anyone do this easily or legally with an underwriter like State Farm or GEICO or AllState. But if you get it sorted, POST UP!

There was a guy in NJ that wrote track policies a while back. He folded faster than superman on laundry day when he started having to pay claims...

I have an agreed value plan with Hagerty on some other cars that includes competition/track (they are 2 different things) coverage. I'd imagine the premiums would not be in the realm of reality for a car like the BRZ.

But was she informing the insurance companies?

I had a broker not tell insurance companies that i got a ticket during my renewal one time (long time ago). But i wonder how that works when you deal directly with an insurance company.
