Anyone running 245/45R16 on 16x8 wheels?
I'm considering Enkie Compe 16x8 +25. I see that Bridgestone make the RE-11 in 245/45R16 which according to the wheel calculator is only mm away from our stock oem wheel height so the speedo will be accurate. As far as I can estimate based on the wheel calculator it should fit fine as far as the struts go since it's a et25 offset. The only downside to this setup is the wheels are a little heavy at 20lbs.
My other option is Kosei K4R 17x8 +35. I see I can get Bridgestone RE-11a in 245/40R17 to match stock height for speedo. I could also get 225/45R17 but the speedo would be off a little more. 235 is recommended width for 17x8, 225 would be just a slight stretch and 245 would be extra meat to squeeze in the rim but still rated to fit. Both are about $200 per wheel. Both are within $40 for the tire options ($172 vs $181) Any opinions? I'm running full whiteline suspension bushings & sways, Koni Yellow, RCE Yellow, 250whp from Innovate, and various other goodies not related to power or suspension. Currently no plan to ever go BBK as I'll stick to stock sized brakes and use upgraded pads instead. See link in signature for build details if you'd like. I daily drive and do a couple track days and autox a year. Thanks!

I vote: 17X8 & 225; alt. 17X8 & 235
Reasons: Tire choice in 16" is miserable; 225/235 because why run a wider tire than you need - it costs more, it weighs more, and it generally doesn't perform better |
