DIY Request: heated mirror install
Hi everyone,
Looking for a quick DIY on installing heated mirrors - particularly, just wanted to know how the wiring attaches - is it a plug or exposed wiring or wire 'hook' that latches on, etc... Thanks!

@Sanka86 thanks - are the female connectors the two tabs that stick out?

They are two male ends on the mirrors themselves
http://ft86speedfactory.com/rexpeed-...ated-1354.html Here if you look on ft86speedfactory's site they have a image of the back of a rexpeed heated mirror. Same connections as the factory mirror. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wondering if the wiring for the heated mirrors is already run to the mirror hood?? If it is I can just change the factory mirror out for a heated mirror. Can anyone answer this question?

I just took the mirror off the passengers side of my "bought in the United States No Options 2015 FRS" and there is no heated mirror wiring in the mirror head. I did not take the door panel off to see if it was in the door, but I am positive it is not run up to the mirror head ... i.e. certainly not an easy plug-n-play. Arvid

I too want to add heated mirrors but there doesnt seem enough interest.
The monogram series has the heated mirrors in the US FRS. Maybe we can get the wiring, relay and mirrors from the dealer? Winters suck here in NY and when it rains in the evening, it freezes on the mirrors real good and annoying to get the ice off to see anything. If the monogram thing is a bust, maybe someone in canada can get the part numbers for the wiring and relays? |

The only thing I ever got online is this link below,
http://www.phasteksport.com/FR-S-BRZ...rz-mirrors.htm check the installation Instructions TAB next to description. I am a novice when it comes to electrical. Could someone explain this clearly. |

I'm not an expert either, but here's what I understood. I'm not interested in the side blinker, so I only read the heated mirror. On passenger side GD2 plug, there's dark blue wire. That's for the rear defroster. Tap that wire with 1 T connector, connected with 2 wires. Each wire goes to each side mirror positive. The negative can be grounded separately. Don't count me on this!! Correct me if I'm wrong. |

I'll see if I can get my panel peeled back tonight to take a picture of the wiring on the passenger side for the defroster. I have the mirrors from Phastek with the turn signals and defrosters.

The stock heated mirrors are dirt cheap. I mean dirt cheap, we're talking $30. Find them in the parts catalog under Doors >> Outside Mirrors >> Mirror Glass (I'm looking at a BRZ parts page FYI). Once you have the mirror glass you just need to wire them up. Other folks have confirmed that they heated mirror vehicles control the mirrors with the rear defroster, so I'm sure the post suggesting that was on the right track.
