what about having only 1 high flow cat?

So, I have my open flash header being installed Friday morning and I have a dilemma. I worry that with the removal of the cat from the header (primary cat at that) and only a high flow cat as part of my nameless OP/DP w/ resonator their will be rasp and it will be too loud!

Does anyone with this type of exhaust composition care to share their experiences?

As of now my mind is set to put the OEM OP and DP with stock cat and sell the nameless OP/DP 1 piece. I am hoping to be convinced otherwise.

thanks
JOsh

Buy a better muffler? I have heard numerous setups without much rasp. Nameless 5" (3" diameter) axle back, stock mid, JDL OP, catted FP, and UEL header sounded quite night with not much rasp.

Here is a video of the nameless muffler + JDL (catted) FP OP and UEL from when I had it on the dyno recently:

It is just a hair deeper toned in person.

don't you have FI? I believe that should tame the sound. no?

I am also interested in this as I plan to go JDL UEL header and OP with a cat in only the mid pipe. But I'm also looking at the quietest mufflers on the market (perrin, Q300, etc).

Thanks for the video Nelsmar but I think we're looking for a N/A application. FI probably changes the sound quite a bit.

It depends on the muffler. I ran a full aftermarket and catless system with the OFH, and had no rasp with the q300. I have since put the stock front pipe back on the help with the smell. You can always do the same.

^^ this. I'll have another single high flow cat car on the dyno with a greddy sp elite muffler. Then another with a full exhaust a week after that I'll try and remember to bring my camera and record the sound.

I'm running the ark testpipe and thae car is really quiet. That said the full exhaust is 2.5" DP back, as I wanted ot keep the in cabin noise down. It's 100% female friendly. The number one comment people make is how quiet the car is, inside and out. Still has all the wicked turbo sounds

Im running a single high flow cat with my slightly UEL headers followed by full MILLTEK exhaust. No drone or rasp due to a quiet muffler and long resonator.

I would try just installing what you have and decide if its too raspy before jumping to conclusions :P Thats the easiest way to find out! The EL headers from what I have personally heard typically have more rasp than the UEL.

I had the Nameless axle back with 5" mufflers on my car yesterday to see how it sounded with the rest of my setup: Nameless Headers > Nameless OP/FP Combo with Cat and Resonator. It was fairly quiet at idle and cruise, and at WOT it got louder but nothing compared to the muffler delete I have been running. The only negative sound that I got was that sound that people say is the VVT system.
