P0354 Ignition Coil Malfunction Trending

Hey,

I just got my first true CEL (P0354) while in Florida this week. I was taking an on ramp to I-95 and was spiritedly taking the curve when I got the cel. The car didn't buck or anything and felt the same. So I took it to the local Subaru dealer and he scanned and cleared it for me and said to see if it comes back.

Details:
Gas: Sunoco 93 octane
Outside temp: ~30 degrees Celsius
Engine temp: warmed up - return trip from the auto mall
Transmission: 6 MT
Condition: 2nd gear corner - high rpms

But the reason I'm writing this is so that we can create a data base to try and gauge when they'll start failing and so that maybe we can make a case should they fail just outside of warranty. I know some of you got a P035X code while tracking with hot temps and high rpms and have had coils replaced (stock or upgrade) but I haven't found anything for street driving. I've never tracked my car or winter drive it and I'm at 43000km of spirited/casual driving.

So I guess I have a question as well, should I be worried about this becoming a bigger issue? Also, did your dealers warranty right away or did they wait and see if it came back?

Thoughts?

I've read other threads who had this ignition coil thing and then it lead to direct injection failure..

My ignition coil was replaced after 7,500 miles. The CEL (P0354) came on at 122 MPH and 7300 RPM(was logged in the ECU, service tech was a bit surprised lol) and it went straight into limp mode. Took three days for a replacement to be overnighted and installed. The car now has 13,000 miles and no hiccups yet.

It's the ignition coil's fault or something else?

Wow! Nice job lol. Did he question you at all about you going 122 mph at 7300?

The service techs had no idea, and I never got a straight answer from Toyota/Scion.

He asked me if I was at the track, which I promptly denied. Didn't really ask much after that.

I'm probably going to have to replace my Ignition Coil C on my own, because I'm turbo and they likely won't warranty it.

So anyone have part numbers or even aftermarket replacements?
