Advantages of a pulley kit?

So this might be a dumb question but what are the advantages of lighter pulleys on a car?

It is not a dumb question but it is a question that could be answered with even rudimentary searching.

The advantages are often over-stated. It is less rotating mass, but it's at right at the crank. It's an extremely minimal difference in terms of inertial forces when compared to the GIANT timing chains whipping around the outside of the case.

You'll get more performance increase with a $40 drop in filter, than a $100 pulley.

This is why I got rid of those heavy chains and replaced them with some mad-JDM-stage 3-stanced-carbon fiber rope. Yo.

There are no material benefits beyond bling, IMHO.
