Evo X vs 14 or 15 STI ...Helps
The time has come. I heard that the Scion Boss confirmed that the talk about any changes on the 86 will not happen until 2015, which means the MY 2016 will carry the Changes it needs, power ? Price ? Whatever that is, that means it will be the 2nd Gen 86.
I am done waiting around for ToyaSuba Faila to upgrade the 86, and as a family man, I am honestly looking toward these two main competitors. Evo X STI For a bit I was looking into Golf R...but hey...I dont want an unreliable one. Any inputs will be much appreciated. Thank you guys |

Since when are these competitors to the FRS? They're way more expensive first of all, and they're also 4/5 doors with AWD...
That being said I think you should get a Focus ST.

Uhm...honestly, they are ways different than the 86. I have my reasons to Xshop them. I love the 86 because of the nice look, and cheaper, still fun....but they are ways weak in power.
I assure you that I am not the only one. Can we please get on to the advises ? Thank you |

IMO between the current gen STI vs. Evo X, go with the Evo X unless you must have a hatch. I used to own an STI and later got a chance to drive the Evo X GSR. It is much, much sharper. If you don't need the practicality of a hatch, it's the route I would go.
Future STI vs. future Evo, who the heck knows.

I'm looking at these from afar - repair not an issue while it's in the warranty period; while it IS 3400lbs and that isn't "light" since it DOES have a 315hp/330tq turbo 6 that will make power with some ease. 30 more CHP and you're at 10lbs/hp. In short, I think you *may* be overstating the weight a bit.
That said, it's $43K base without the LSD and I doubt you'll be able get one for less than $49K OTD. Even more if you want other options. |

My advice would be to wait for the new STI. If it turns out to be disappointing, you can always find a used Evo X on the market.
