automatic pdf :D enjoy
http://avtopedia.ru/akpp/a960eaut.pdf
the automatic that the 86 uses will be very very close to this, revised solenoids and a couple other tweaks, but basically we get an IS 250 transmission ohh yeah and the tranny gets a built in warmer and a cooler zing!

Are you sure it's going to be this? Who said?
I thought it was going to be a 6 speed variant of the AA80E found in the Lexus LS and IS-F. The A960 has a very outdated design. It's more complicated than the AA80E 8 speed! Even Toyota's U660 front wheel drive 6 speed is more advanced. For one thing, the A960 uses four one-way clutches and all the newer designs have only a single-one way clutch. It doesn't use a Ravigneaux gearset either. Even GM and Ford have simpler 6 speed transmissions. A960E 6 speed from the IS250: AA80E from the IS-F: |

I assume its the is250 tranny because its got the exact same gear ratios and its stated in a few reviews that its the is 250 tranny, its supposed to be a revised version using different shift solenoids and different shift patterns...

Well if it's true then they used the old off the shelf tranny to cut costs. If it performs well from the driver's perspective then I guess that's what matters most.
That being said, the question in my mind is--is the tranny for the FT86 using the simplified solenoids & valve body architecture of the latest generation Toyota/Aisin A/T ? The new style valve body is on the right. We know the AA80E (IS-F and LS460) have it. We know Toyota's FWD U660 6 speed has it. Based on my interpretation of the diagrams in the OP's pdf it looks like the A960E as applied to the IS250 doesn't. So maybe for the FT86 Toyota converted to the new style valve body but kept the "hard parts" like the gearset arrangement the same. They may have also adopted the IS-F style sportier shift response and the wider lock-up area: Last edited by arghx7; 04-27-2012 at 12:05 AM. Reason: solenoids |

yeah but no one knows what the transmission is called yet, it is a REVISED IS250 tranny based off the A960E, but it uses simiar solenoids and shift patterns as the ISF, back in 2011 many projected it would just be called the AA60E instead of the AA80E because it lacks 2 gears the ISF has
