Boost gauge off at elevation
So was just thinking about this, i am in denver, so elevation of 5280. Would my AEM boost gauge be off a couple psi due to the elevation?
Anyone else at elevation show their gauge being 2 psi less? I was originally thinking i have the wrong actuator, but now i am thinking that maybe my 8psi actuator is only reading at 6psi due to elevation. Can i check with ecutek logs somehow to see the "trueboost"? Or possibly with torque? Just trying to iron out some issues. Thoughts? |

ECUtek and Torque will display the same MAP sensor reading. You can try either against your Boost gauge.

Atmospheric pressure at sea level is about 14.7 psi.
Atmospheric pressure at Denver International airport is about 12 psi. The wastegate in a turbo system raises boost pressure above local atmospheric pressure. So 8 psi boost at sea level is going to be higher absolute pressure than 8 psi in Denver. If your boost gauge is calibrated to read 0 when it's reading atmospheric pressure in Denver, then you should see 8 psi on your gauge at full boost. If it's calibrated to read 0 at sea level, then you should see it hanging around 4-5" vacuum with your car off, and it might get up to 6 psi at full boost. |

my prosport gauge said it came calibrated for 1000ft elevation, a compromise i guess. seemed weird to me at the time, but it seems to read perfectly well in line with the map.

I think most boost gauges are setup this way. They are set from the factory with some elevation to be zero boost/vacuum.

Its also harder to boost at higher altitudes.
When i had my STI at +3500 feet target redline boost was suposse to be 13.5psi but i only ever saw 11.8 to 12.2. |
