Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans
Anyone been watching this series on Velocity? It's pretty good and there are a lot of old clips of Paul Newman, Steve McQueen and James Garner intermingled in the show. Worth watching.

Just finished watching the 3rd episode. I think it's terrific.

Great show but can't help but think Patrick Dempsey is a terrible driver...although he seems to be working hard to improve.

I don't think he's a terrible driver though, just a noob. I think he's got loads of talent, it's still just developing. When he did the 2:09.1 at Sebring in the Porsche, that was impressive. The mistakes he's made, imho, are rookie mistakes and not so much running out of talent; like speeding in pit lane or the spin a the top of the corkscrew in his ALMS car. The thing is, he's doing his driver's development on a very public stage and on a very expensive venue, so we, as the viewer, are privy to all his faults as he develops. He's also doing it in his late 40's. For an old dog, learning new tricks, I'm impressed.

I have really enjoyed the series regardless of him using his acting notoriety to gain access to racing people like me can only dream of.
Seems to me like he can be competitive so he deserves to be out there Nick C.
