She took the pole at a track where pole position is the least important and showed that she is capable of driving around a track at full throttle the entire time. Color me impressed. Will wait to see who she takes out when the bump drafting begins or see if she takes out any crew members with her many pit lane blunders.

Have you watched a Daytona 500? Did you see practice? Qualifying times mean NOTHING. They are slower than practice and race times. All her qualifying on pole shows is that they were willing to put more tape on the grill and run a thinner oil risking damage to the engine just to get the front row. You know why it took Dale Earnhardt so long to win the Daytona 500? Because it takes no skill to win one, you just have to get lucky and be in the right position at the end of the race.

Is that what they did?

So, if Danica is lucky enough to be there at the end, you’re saying she has the same odds of winning as anyone else on track?

Cool!

Is that what you think?

I see.

I think you'll find that this is true, by definition, of every race in motor racing history.

Enjoy the race.

It's not important to the race but it's important as a moment in NASCAR history. For a series dominated by white men all these years, to have anyone else win something as innocuous as pole position is newsworthy outside of NASCAR. There's no need to be a **** about whether it makes any difference during the actual race. No one really cares.

Just nod your head and say "that's interesting" like me.

Holy Carp, I didn't know Google had a live leaderboard for NASCAR races.

You guys make it sound like she was the first women in NASCAR. There were women with way more skill than her that did just as much with worse equipment against all those white males in NASCAR.

Does most motor racing involve never lifting off the throttle or hitting the brakes? That is what you call Daytona 500 qualifying.

TL;DR

Chill bro. I'm neutral on whether Danica Patrick is any good or not. You seem to care about this topic.

Her accomplishments might have been the only interesting thing that happened in that whole race. It was possibly the most boring motorsports event that I have ever had the misfortune of witnessing. I had such high hopes for the new generation stock cars. Maybe they will be better on the short tracks.
