Front camber adjustment.

I was wondering whether if anyone tried to increase the front camber further by replacing all 4 of the front strut bolts. I've already installed one set of SPC camber bolts maxed out on the upper mounting hole on the knuckle. I'm wondering if I can get maybe another -.5~1 degree of camber out front by replacing the bottom bolts with another set of camber bolts.

I've done it. Others have too. No issues yet (several autocrosses and track days). Depending on wheel width, and offset, wide tires will start to get very close to the spring perch on the stock struts. I've got about -2.3 degrees on each side (Subaru crash bolt on top, SPC on bottom)

Sweet! I'm hoping to get close to -3 degrees of camber on either side with SPC bolts and a 1" drop. $400 for some decent camber plates is too much money for a couple of degrees of camber.

Yup, you can do it, but I'm not sure if you'll hit -3.

Assuming @celica73 was getting 2.3 degrees on stock height with his crash bolt/SPC bolt combo, I guesstimate SPC/SPC top and bottom will get at least another .1 or .2 degrees of neg camber. The 1" drop should afford me another .1 to .2 degrees of neg camber out front. So I should get a tad more than 2.5 degrees of camber total with just bolts and springs. I can deal with that.

I just measured my toe with the upper camber bolts maxed and 1" lowering springs I still retained 0 toe in the front. Rear has 1/16" toe in. Pretty much right where I want it to be. heh... I don't have anything to measure camber, so I'm not sure where the numbers are at. Ghetto clearance checked the spring to inner tire and I have about the thickness of my index finger (approx. 12mm diameter) + a couple mm with the factory wheel/tires. Fitting 245/40/17 tires on a +45 offset wheel might be a problem.
@celica73 What kind of wheels/tires are you running with your setup? Have you ran into Tire/Strut clearance issues?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is top oem crash bolt+ spc bottom bolt combo doable on kw suspension? Since kw has the oval top hole already, theoretically this combo would give -2.5 or more camber?

I wouldn't recommend it, but yes.

just burr out the 4 strut mount holes in the tower and move the strut over if you want to do it on the cheap. do the same the same on the crash bolt holes. live young, die fast!

I just added the second set of bolts this past weekend. Made some rough measurements. I was able to get 2.6* at the front with 1" drop and 2 sets of SPC bolts. Surprisingly little bit of toe in after the mod, about 1/32". If you run wider wheel/tire you might want to check your clearances. I added a 5mm spacer to my 245/40/17 @+45 wheels and still have clearance issues. Camber plates will not have this problem.

If its ok for the stock shock why not on the kw? Just curious to know. I was gonna try this setup until I get top hats...

I don't recommend using 2 thinner/eccentric/camber bolts period, but it's a quick fix for those that either need it immediately, or are looking for the cheapest possible solution

Is the bottom OEM bolt the same as the top one? i.e., it it possible to install the factory crash bolts in both locations?

The lower bolt hole uses a 14mm diameter bolt while the upper bolt is 16mm. I'm not sure if they make a crash bolt for the lower hole.

I don't like the OE crash bolts because they are just a smaller diameter bolt than the one they replace. Only the tension from the bolt and nut being tightened is holding the strut/ knuckle in position. So a small impact at the wheels may cause the position of the knuckle to shift, changing your alignment setting. The eccentric bolt does not leave any slop in the bolt hole. Though, aside from the eccentric cam on the bolt, the bolt it self is of a smaller diameter. Smaller than the OE crash bolt so complete failure after a lager impact is more likely with the eccentric bolt.

I ran this on my 06 WRX (same front suspension as the twins). I had both upper and lower bolts. I ran this through many autocrosses and about 70k miles. It works fine. I got about 2.6* front.
