Why does it look like I have a million tiny scratches behind both doors/in front of the rear tires?! *I literally just washed the car* From the number "dings", this seems to be where every rock on the rock hits. Maybe it's a paint defect? I have mudguards and everything. Someone help me please

how many highway miles and total miles do you have on car. Can you tell if its dirt/paint or actual chips. Those would qualify as chips not scratches. if you do not have a clay bar or lacquer thinner try rubbing goo gone , wd 40, or gasoline see if that removes the spots. If you rub you finger nail past areas does it make a sound. just trying to determine if these are chips or not. to fix have bodyshop repaint and add 3m bra to that area

I have ~9k highway miles on it (11k total). After determining they were in fact chips, I rubbed a light polish on them and it slightly cleaned them up. I can look closely and see they are actually pretty deep(most of them through the clear). My step dad does custom air brushing and has millions of years of experience with all types of paints as well (since he's old) and he thinks there is a defect in the paint. He doesn't think the paint should be that soft and chip so easily. I bought the car new in November and at this rate, it's going to need a $5k paint job to cover the orange peel and chips by next year... ohh yea, I forgot to say when I was purchasing the car, I had all the clear plastic films checked off in my accessories but the dealer told me not to do it bc it peels up and fades the paint differently in comparison to unprotected spots. What's the point of the $100 I spent to have the stock mudguards put on by those quacks anyway?

My less than scientific logic says you shouldn't even be getting chips there. The most road debris thrown off from the wheels goes behind the wheel. And that area is almost too far from the front wheels. You'd have a lot more damage closer to the front wheels also if it was from them.

Could debris be hitting your rear mudguards and bouncing off in this direction? That's seems unlikely but is the only thing I can think of. Either that or you do most of your driving in reverse.

Good luck with this - I've never seen chips in this area myself. All mine are directly behind the wheels. I don't even have mud guards and none of them are this bad.

Yes that seems like a nice product. Cheaper solution to a real clear bra. I really don't think you need you whole car painted. You should never paint a car because of orange peel. First plain of action is to wetsand buff the orange peel away. 80% of all cars have orange peel to some extent. Until you start paying 50k and up. BMW Mercedes Porsche Audi and up. Its weird you got the chips with a mudflap. Bitch at the dealer see what happens. And if they do nothing and this drives you nuts get the quarter panels sprayed and add a clear bra for for a estimate total of 800-1200$ and bam. The fact is rock's and debri ARE hitting your car bottom line.

I just spotted mud on your tires. No offense but does your street/ driveway have gravel or mud? Because if that is built up in your tires. The first time you take a turn your going to fling that stuff right on you car

No, I just happened to drive to my cousins this once and his driveway is dirt. That's the only dirt she's seen.
