Has anyone run wires through doors?

I did a search but couldn't find anything regarding running wires through doors, I tried to run some 16 gauge speakers wires through the grommets and it goes in about half way then gets stuck , it gets stuck no matter which end I go in .

How did you run it??

First, I loosened the bolt on the connecting rod that stops the door from opening too much.
Then I pulled the grommet off of both the car side & door side.
I then found a thick braided steel cable (kinda like a brake cable off of a bike), but I was prepared to use a coat hanger wire.
I used masking tape to tape the end of the speaker wire to the cable.
Then I slathered Vaseline all over that masking tape.
... after that, it was fairly easy.
- push through car wall, pull slack into space between car & door
- push through rubber boot
- push through opening in door (which goes into rubber sleeve)
- carefully cut slit in sleeve in door area for new wire come out.

Hope that all helps.

How did you get that boot off the cabin side ? I got the door one off but couldn't manage to get the other one on the car side off . I was just going to push the connectors for that harness out if I could get the boot off !
I did lube an 8 gauge and managed to get it to the tip of the car boot but it wouldn't go anymore .

It's a pain in the ass to get it off the car. Just pull on the rubber, and use a flat head screw driver to pry it off. To get it back on, it's much easier if you pop the plastic bit it sits on out of the car door recess.
