AutoLock doors

Has anyone noticed that once we get into the car and start driving the doors dont autolock. At least mine don't ! does this happen with everyone ?

I know if you dont lock your car and walk away it autolocks in 3-5 minutes.

There is no Autolock feature on the FRS/BRZ so yes...it is normal.

Also, I have never had my BRZ lock itself after walking away without locking it...this is news to me.

I know both my Tacoma and my BRZ will RE-LOCK themselves if you unlock the car but do not open the doors within 30 seconds after unlocking.

Ya i noticed this too. I would love to have the car autolock once the key gets out of range.

I have observed that as a case but now that you pointed out, it could also be that i unlocked the car and dint open the doors. I dont really remember, I may want to check this out tomorrow to be sure.

If you're in a horrendous accident and it becomes a matter of life and death, the fact someone can get to you quickly (because the doors aren't locked) might end up being important to you. If and when you're driving somewhere and you don't feel comfortable about it, lock your doors.

My biggest pet peeve is that the doors wont open from the inside when the door is locked. I hate fumbling with the door locks trying to get out of my car, especially when it's dark out. My Tacoma you can always open the doors from the inside whether they are locked or not, I really wish the BRZ had this feature...I don't understand why any modern cars do that that feature, seems silly.

The 'Jaws-of-Life' don't care if the car is locked!! But if you had a heart attack or some other debilitating health crisis inside the car, an unlocked door would be an advantage. But I always lock 'em when I'm driving in some neighborhoods. Possible carjack trumps heart attack every time!

These cars do NOT automatically lock themselves when you walk away. You run the risk of a vandalized car if you think they do. They will re-lock if you unlock them from the key fob but don't actually open a door within a certain number of seconds.

If there was ever a true emergency and you car was locked...the police/fire department/medics will never hesitate to smash your window in and then unlock it from the inside. It happens every day...

The big question is how long will it take for the police/fire/medics to get to where you are? Five minutes, 20 minutes? Perhaps there's someone standing outside your car waiting for them to arrive who could have been administering first aid to you during that time! I know it's all hypothetical but I figure a good samaritan could get in my unlocked car and help keep me alive sooner than waiting for an emergency responder to get there and get me out.

Again, while driving thru any area I don't feel comfortable in I don't find it a problem to "click" lock my doors.

Please list a car that does this? I don't know of ANY cars that have this feature so I don't know why people are complaining that THIS car doesn't have it ether...

Also if you lock them then open it then walk away with out putting the key in the ignition the auto lock feature still works and will re relock your car. First I thought my wife was playing a joke on me will I was washing my car but I had both sets of keys for some reason silly me
