Anyone have bird(s) as pet?

I don't know when this all started, but birds come to my house every spring/summer. My father kind of built a threshold above our entrance door and these birds started to build a small nest and laid eggs there. I'm sure they were born and flied off.

Our family loves animals. So I nailed a small birdhouse above our door and they brought small branches and grass, whatnot to build a nest inside the birdhouse. Since they love the new place, I would like to build another one by the small tree that we have next to the house.

Does any of you have any tips on feeding/watering them? I bought this bird food from petsmart but it seems like they're not eating it. These birds are the orioles mascot birds.

Another funny story..
We grow some vegetables and fruits in our yard (typical Asian parents).
Mom planted a small strawberry stem in our front yard and they spread real good. Whenever berries are ripe, we see several rabbits trespassing and eating all those fruits. I am happy to see those animals around my house, i don't know, it's just me I guess.

I use to have many parakeets as pets and we would let them fly around the house and chill in their cage. We just put the food and water in the cup that was included with the cage, they'll eat it whenever their hungry.

My asian parents love to put leftover rice outside in a bowl, and everyday there would be many birds in the backyard just eating.
