Lou's custom exhaust

So I have had a couple buddys in years past take there cars to Lou's to get CAT backs done. They have said good things about it.

They will custom bend and weld 2.5 or 3" pipe, they use Flowmaster mufflers.

Thought? Have anyone else used them in the past or on the BRZ/FRS?

Don't. I use Lou's on my old cars when I need something bent up fast and cheap. I would never use them for a new car, unless you're having them bolt on a pre-made exhaust. There are plenty of pre-made catbacks on the market that use mandrel-bent stainless exhaust piping; don't settle for cheap mild steel with crush bends and crappy off-the-shelf mufflers.

I had them custom install two mufflers on my old '07 Camry and they did a great job. I just bought a Borla catback for the BRZ and I'm taking it to them to install (I don't have a garage or any workspace).

I dont usually like to say negative things about a shop but some of the things Ive seen them charge money for is ridiculous. Chop out a muffler, weld in almost the right size pipe and call it done. Not to mention how they often weld the entire exhaust in one piece, makes it real fun to remove for maintenance.

There is more to an exhaust then the brand name on the muffler.

I also agree with what pretty much what everyone has said. For this car, i'd say buy one online.

Lou's is great for older cars or non sports cars. I had a friend who got a magnaflow on his new Camry... sounds great and if you close your eyes you'd think it was a racecar

My buddy with an FR-S went to lou's last summer to get a custom cat back . Not only did they cut his pipe (instead of unbolting it at the factory connection) But he has to go back to have them re-do the tips because they rusted OFF.Plus the exhaust doesn't sound great.

I went to Lou's to have my nameless axle back installed on my FR-S (My apartment is strict about not working on cars) And they wanted to charge me $95 for the install and $75 for a gasket...

never again

get a perrin, or if you don't mind waiting for it to be built and shipped from WA, nameless.

Yeah, I'm going to avoid Lou's. I'm leaning towards a Nameless.

I paid Lou's $625 to put a high flow cat in my 318is, add a resonator and flex pipe and a flange and put some pre-made mandrel bends in. They did a mediocre job as expected. I'm gonna bring it back, my fourth trip in a month, for them to clean it up. I should've just bought a new OEM-style cat and bolted on a Supersprint for all the time and money I wasted on the "custom" setup.

From what i have heard they vary location to location. Manch tends to be a bit sloppy but from what i hear they're cheap and quick. If you want a muffler cut out and a pipe welded in i hear they are reasonable. I've heard they do both mandrel and crush bends so that might again depend on the location.
