Non-Coilover Option?
Besides the Koni Yellows, what other options are there for a shock replacement? Anything coming down the pipeline?
I'm happy with my RCE springs but think I might have another blown strut. If I'm going to pay for a replacement, I might as well upgrade. I would rather have a good spring/shock combo than a crappy coilover setup. |

I couldn't find any other replacement shocks either so I bought the Koni Yellow from brz-parts.com which was a lot cheaper than anywhere else surprisingly. The rears are sitting on my floor with RCE Yellow springs. Maybe I'll put them on soon.

Not really digging the idea of the Koni's. I have heard some mixed reviews about them. I was hoping Either Bilstein or Ohlins was making a full replacement.

Had the konis on my mazda, the shaft rusted after 1 winter and I couldn't adjust the stiffness anymore since you have to fully compress the shock to adjust.

Koni's are all thats available now but bilstein are supposedly in development. I've heard october but who knows. I've seen quite a few people blowing struts with the rce yellows compared to other springs...
Tein street basis is a great value coilover compared to the other taiwanese made options. |

Konis can be adjusted on the car without compressing them; what's the point of having an adjuster on top if you have to compress the shaft? |

Konis are arguably the best value for a street setup. I'd stick with them.

I've had Konis on four cars in the past, and plan to get a set for my BRZ (and hopefully Mini Cooper too) before the current sale ends. I've had zero problems with Konis on any car I've had them on.

I've heard good things, but at least one of my struts is seeping fluid on adjustment. Will keep my eye on it to see if it leaks any further.
