Found a new coilover option from Tein

http://www.tein.com/products/street_basis.html

Ride Height Adj Range (F): -1.0~-1.9in (-25~-48mm)
Spring Rate (F): 280lbs/in (5kgf/mm)
Ride Height Adj Range (R): -1.0~-2.1in (-25~-53mm)
Spring Rate (R): 336lbs/in (6kgf/mm)
Uppermount: OEM Uppermount

TEIN Dampers - Street Basis: TEIN Street Basis Damper is the evolution of the popular BASIC coilover model. It incorporates new internal and external components, newly developed coatings and new manufacturing processes.

TEIN engineers have spent many hours developing new seals and internal components to improve durability and product life. This was one of our major goals for the new model.

Newly developed “ZT” coating for improved durability and hassle-free ride height adjustment. TEIN developed this coating in-house after stringent test and analysis procedures. Our engineers tested different coats, application methods, cleaning processes, etc… in our own brine salt water testing machine which simulates heavy solvents/ road salts used in cold weather climates.

Slip-fit threaded adjustment tube. Allows for damper body and threaded sleeve to be thoroughly coated for rust/ corrosion protection.

The slip-fit allows a more thorough coating on the threaded section as well as powder coated damper body.

Revised Aluminum Spring Seat and Delrin Thrust Washer are light weight and durable. This combination allows for smooth ride height adjustment. The new spring seats have a larger contact surface area and eliminate the need for a rubber spring seat

I like the spring rates and the fact it lets me use my stock upper mounts, the price for me is about half of the GC street system i was looking at, i've had good luck with my H tech springs but think these may be in my future.

msrp is $830.00

Great find! I wonder how something like this stacks up against the other 800-1100 kits from Fortune etc..

I went for a ride a while ago on Tein Basics on an STI. The valving was SOFT...and generally comfortable for most roads. However, compression travel was lacking big time, so even medium sized bumps were a little too sharp and very noticeable IMO. For performance they were soft. I'm not sure where I'd put them compared to other low end coilovers like BC/Megan/etc since it's been a little while. For a similar price I'd certainly prefer Koni inserts with good springs for performance but you had to know I'd say that.

The Street Basis is supposed to be an improvement over the Basics but as we all know you get what you pay for. I'm relatively happy with the Tein H Tech springs i have so if they were an improvement over those with stock struts which they would almost have to be they may work out well for me.

I am a little leary just because of the price but i still think they would be better than BC/Megan/KSport...

I'm sure the Koni's in the GC Street setup are a far superior damper and i could get those for about the same price but not sure how they would work with the Tein springs i have.
