Suggestions for more horsepower! Turbocharger upgrade + more!
If someone wanted to get a turbo upgrade for their FRS/BRZ, what other components to the car need to be upgraded in order to cope with 50 to 100/200+ more horsepower?
I understand upgrades need to be made to the engine, plus tune, etc. But specifically I couldn't name them off (cause I am newb)... So, with your constructive words of advice and suggestions, what turbo build would you guys would go with and what parts would you upgrade in order for your 86 to cope with that new harnessed power! You are welcome to be general with naming off upgrade parts too! Please include potential total cost $$ if possible. Thanks guys. Hope this helps other people as well. Thats the nice thing with kits that have been popping up, they basically include everything you need like injectors, a tune , a fuel pump and so on. A few things that are necessary in my opinion but some kits state that they are not required would be a clutch, and a lightened flywheel; in addition to that you could also invest in a catback preferably a free flowing one thats 3" and some sticker tires (i wouldn't do that straight away id get a chance to shred the stock ones and then upgrade)

Thanks for providing that info with regard to the parts list and the kit which includes everything. I kind of relate this in smaller terms to building a desktop computer. |

most of the kits are under 10 PSI. i would def call that modest boost when my friends GTI was i think lik 16 stock (give or take).
as for wear on the engine.... ours are pretty similar to WRX and those things take a lot and still run strong so im sure +100 whp on ours is nothing (if done correctly of course) |

How much would an 8-10 psi kit go for? Can you go to just a modest 7 or 8? |

Well, the stock brakes can handle it unless you're driving like a madman. (Which is likely to happen with a turbo) So brakes and tires might be a good option, and a clutch once your upgrades are finished.
