What RPM does you drive/shift at?
So I was wondering, what RPM range do you all drive around in, and at what RPM range do you shift at?
Personally I've been shifting around 3-4k and driving in the 2-3.5k range in normal traffic. Just wondering if I'm being too conservative with my driving. |

12,000...but only in reverse.
Honest answer...who cares? There is no right way or wrong way to drive your car. What does "driving too conservative" mean, anyway? Getting better gas mileage? Not acting like a douche on public roads? Saving wear and tear on your car? Reducing the chances that you are going to die in a fiery crash or kill someone? Drive how you want to...don't worry about what other people are doing - it makes no difference in the end.

This is what I do as well. If I'm going over 35mph with no engine load I'm in 6th gear. I Also try to let the clutch out at around 750-1,000rpm. It helps and I want to preserve my clutch.

usually shift at 4-5K with normal driving. as far as cruising look at your instantaneous MPG. Sometimes driving at 3.5-4K in a lower gear is more fuel efficient than lugging the engine in a higher gear...
btw average fuel economy is ~27.6, mostly in the city, and drive spiritedly often |

For normal, round town driving I will down shift if I get down to 2,000 rpm's and I will up shift when I get above 2,500 rpm's. This would be conservitive driving by an old man which I am.
