Soft Paint and Window

So the day after I took delivery of my BRZ I went on a road trip to Vegas and when I returned the whole front bumper was chipped and part of the hood and top of my windshield was chipped maybe cracked and right above that the roof down to the metal. It bothers me only a little because its not even a week old but hell... Time to save up and buy CF hood and roof when they rust. Its a car and should be driven. So if youre planning on road tripping this car especially this new from factory... Drive really really slow.

Subaru always had very thin paint. Thats why im thinking of getting silver to hide all the chips. I would love to get swp, but im afraid i would have same problem with my aspen white on my sti. And color matching is a bitch on white color

I got black because of the front bumper. Plastic front bumpers are black to hide the chips but wasnt expecting the hood and roof especially the front window/windshield to chip/crack!

that sounds incredibly excessive. My car has only one very small chip in 7500 miles of hard driving in SoCal, and a handful of AutoX (and I don't tape my car up). Even nailing a handful of cones all I got were scuffs that were easy to remove.

I have over 10,000 miles on mine since 8/4 and only a few chips, and that's with driving through all the construction zones here in the DFW area.

If you really got that chewed up, you either need to back off as others have said, or file a complaint with your dealer.

After having many cars, I say get a clear bra on the front bumper, hood, fenders and the roof a pillars if you can.

A car is meant to be driven and not have to worry about driving. Since I did this to my C6 Z06 - 4 years of driving with no chips in the paint has helped me enjoy driving (helps on resale value as well) and not being afraid and miss out on life.

After selling the vette and getting the BRZ - I did the full hood, front fenders, roofline/A pillars and front bumper and have not once regretted driving - I got XPEL ultimate and the clear bra looks better than the original paint. I don't worry about scratches or being behind 18 wheelers.

Life is short to miss out on enjoying it.

I'm dealing with the same situation living in the industrial part of Houston. Do big trucks actually throw up more rocks than normal cars? Why is this? they usually have mud flaps too.

XPEL ultimate is a bit pricier and ran me 1500 but I included tint and a full hood fender and upper roof line that they no longer offer (they did my doorcups even).

If you go with scotchguard or ventureshield (this one yellows a bit and is thicker and less glossy) but usually costs about 500-600 only if you exclude the roof and full fender/hood - only about half the hood and fender is done.

I would spend more time getting a good installer than the product. The installer's attention to detail (no bubbles and dirt in the edges is more important).

Mine I went back three times to get bubbles out and the edges seem to be not so well done in a couple corners but I got fed up with going back to them for the small stuff and am going to spend more time tracking than worrying about the beauty of it. IF I bust something up - carbon fiber here I come and at which time I go to a better exotic car installer and pony up for a decent full cover of the parts where no seams are visible if looks are important - I feel that on a 28k car I am not going to go that far.
