us vs canadian service intervals
Im coming up on 16k km and my second oil change. I believe the manual says to change oil every 8000km. I've been reading on thr forums and noticed people mentioning a service interval of 7500 miles! My wifes 2013 accord is at 10k and it reads 50% oil life so a 7500 mile interval sounds reasonable. 8000km on full synthetic sounds a bit too soon. That's like straight up 1980s kind of oil change interval. Is there a difference between thr canadian and american service interval?

I believe the Canadian BRZ's are 7500 miles (12k km's) as well, but I'm not sure.

I could be wrong, but I think the Canadian service is every 8000km (5000 miles) up to 24,000km, then switches to every 10,000 after that.

Toyota Canada has gone to an 6 month/8000km interval on all their cars now, not sure if that's the same globally. I'm sure the full synthetic is good for almost double that though.

Ok, I just checked the manual while responding to a quote in another thread, and I was off by a bit... OCI is 8000km (5000 miles) up to 24,000 (15,000), then every 16,000 (10,000 miles!) after that. I don't care how good the oil is, I have too much mechanical sympathy to leave it in that long.

I'm glad someone asked about this cause I found it a bit odd as well. Perhaps they figure that Canadian winter is harder on the oil and thus shortened the interval.
Looking at the service schedule that was given to me when I got the car it continues on 8000km intervals but every other one after 24000kms is just listed as "Maintenance Service - Synthetic 0W20" while the 24000km service and the odd ones after that are listed as "Oil and Filter Service - Synthetic 0W20". Am I to take that as replace the filter every 16000km but the oil every 8000km? Personally I am thinking that I will adhere to the 8000km OCI for the first couple and switch to the oil that I'm intending to use long-term and run a Blackstone labs analysis to determine for sure that I can stretch it out. I'd like to end up at 10,000 km intervals. Easy to remember.

So not sure what you guys are looking at, but according to the Warranty and Maintenance booklet I got with my car, it says that inspection and maintenance services should be performed every 10,000km or 6 months, which ever comes first.

Actually, where are you guys seeing the different service intervals? I've attached a copy of where I cited my 10,000 KM/6 month OCI

Mine came from the service and maintenance booklet that came with the owner's manual for an FR-S. It looks like Subie and Toyota may have different schedules.

The pull out schedule with the scion says every 8k until 24k then every 16k. maintenance service is also every 16k but it alternates with oil changes. Works out that you have to bring your car in every 8k for something.
