Canadian FRS vs. BRZ

I know we have been doing this within some of the threads so we might as well hammer it out here...

I am still unsure as to which one I would buy. I'm at a point that I am getting sick of my back and forth attitude that I might just deal with the idea, "whatever I get first is the one I am getting".

That's my take - what's your take on it?

Do you think people took on the pre-order just to be the first ones to drive the car? Or do you really think that they are going to get the car? Because I don't want a test driven car.

I doubt too many people tied up $500 for months just so they could test drive it. I think the vast majority of people who put down $500 have a sincere interest in the car. Some of them may change their mind after the test drive but I don't think that will be common.

Imo it's better to have a lightly test-driven car that people decided not to buy (and be moved closer to the top of the list) than have everybody buy it who was interested and have it take months to get the car.

I was hoping my dealership would get another car in advance of mine for one simple reason. I don't want a bunch of staff (and maybe friends of staff) taking my car for a drive. I don't know how common that is when a new car comes out. I think when somebody special orders in a car it should have very low kilometers on it.

I'll be interested to see what everybody's KM's are at when they finally see their car for the first time.

Also, as for the versus... I think your best bet is to do up a comparison spreadsheet of the interior/exterior differences of FR-S/Premier/Sport Tech.

Personally the features matter more to me than the small style differences. Like when people mention the silver dash it seems like such a small thing to me since people have mentioned in threads time and time again how easy it would be to do things to it like wrapping it to give it a better look. And it's a neat little side project.

How do you turn the A/C knobs from the FR-S or the Premier into a nice little side project?

I don't really like the whole FR-S vs. BRZ debate since I really like both cars. But there definitely are differences between the two. I'm actually a little surprised that you're not leaning more towards one than the other.

I was told that a car can have up to 800 KM and it can still be called new.

my Scion dealership (Dufferin/Steeles) told me that no one is to drive my pre-ordered car except me.

i was also informed (as per my other thread) that each Scion dealership WILL get 1 automatic tester car.

Yup... We're getting the tester on Monday the 7th from 6:00 untill 9:00 in Guelph. All are welcome to come by. (OMG I get to drive one in six days, it kinda feels like Christmas)

Yes, it's an automatic, but that makes sense I guess. If it were a manual, would its clutch last for the whole tour? Also, not everybody can drive stick. Part of me is looking forward to trying the paddle shifter... I've heard it's quite good. Wouldn't want to buy one myself, but fun to try it out.

I think it makes a lot of sense doing it this way. For a car like this, you wouldn't want YOUR car to have been thrashed by a test pilot before you.
BTW... We do not allow ANYONE drive a car that someone else has money down on. I think this is standard practice at most dealerships. At least I hope it is.

As for FR-S vs BRZ, I can't help you there. Working for Toyota/Scion I've not seriously thought about getting the Subaru. The only real difference for me would be the leather. But, if I were getting leather, I would have it done custom tan leather. Black FR-S with tan leather would look great.

Can I open my present yet Mr Claus? Bugger... Six more sleeps.

Not to be a dummy but... AM or PM? It'd kinda be funny if people showed up at the wrong one... I would personally assume PM and be pissed if I missed it... You know, if I wasn't a 3 days drive away. :P

It'd be kind of funny seeing some people lining up at 5:30 in the morning though if it indeed was 6 at night.

Wow marlon, youre really racking your brain over this one ...i dint blame you. Im going a little crazy too. My problem is more brz vs keeping the wrx. I dont recommend you just get whatever comes first, youll regret that later.

Oops... I don't want to get up at 5:00AM to go to work. It's 6:00PM to 9:00pm. We can go for beer and wings at Turtle Jacks after (it's next door)

I was really thinking about it earlier today as I put another pre-order in at docksteader Subaru.

The front of the FR-S really doesn't make me want to take a double take as I lock up my car and leave for work. I stood at the dealership looking at the whiteout for so long, taking tons of pictures to see which angle makes the car look great in. At some angles, it didn't look any good and i think its because of the cheaper headlights placed on this car to drive down the cost, and the lack of the fog light assembly - i am just used to cars having fogs. I also don't like the climate controls on the car. If they spent a little bit more money, i would have really appreciated that. Also, the Altezza styled lights in the rear are lame and dated. It should have just been all covered in red.

On the other hand, i do like the rear body curve. I think i've just made my decision as to which car i will go with. I am going to go for the BRZ SS. Now its just color lol. Either WSP or WRB.

And now, i am going buy the white BRZ SS DV1. There. Watch me walk away with a blue one lol...

I realized that I'll keep the car for 2 years so i might as well have fun with it.

sweet...well at least you have your mind made up..for today

If i do end up Getting the BRZ, i'm 100% without a doubt getting the WRB, so you should get the SWP, so we don't clash at the meets!..lol

I don't know what to think anymore!

Marloon is going to remind me of that guy a little while back that was working himself up to buying a BRZ, and then talked himself out of it and cancelled his pre-order like a day or two after he put it down. :P
