I thought I would throw this suggestion for those looking for a quick and easy subwoofer upgrade option.

The subwoofer linked below easily fits in the back seat and is nearly invisible from the outside (put it in a rear seat facing downward). It does not require a lot of power and a small amp can easily be hidden in the trunk. The total cost should be around $500-700 with installation. Only drawback is that it needs to be removed if you want to put the rear seat down.

This setup prevents the subwoofer from shaking the rear panels (a big problem when it was in the trunk) and greatly improves the sound quality. It will not win any competitions, but it is the best option I have found that does not kill the trunk space and uses the useless rear seats.

The only way anyone would know the subwoofer or amplifier are in the car would be by sitting in it or by blasting the stereo.

Sorry, I put this in the wrong section. It should be in the electronics. How do I delete this or does it need to be done by a mod?

There is no DIY. Just buy a small amp that can be put underneath the carpet in the trunk by cutting out the Styrofoam or in the spare tire. Then place the subwoofer in the back seat. Have a professional install the electrical.

As simple as it gets without paying $300+ for the custom subwoofer enclosure to fit into the trunk. Plus you get a point for being classy and subtle.

Not really a good idea to have an unattached subwoofer in the back seat as it becomes a projectile in an accident. At least get some velcro or straps and secure it.

Very true, but when it is in sideways it has a snug fit (just right) that prevents any movement even when driving through the twisties. Overall I am not worried about it become a projectile unless the car rolls over. The front seat is all the way back and at a decent angle to prevent serious movement in an accident.

edit: it could be jarred loose by a big pothole, but I have hit a couple of bumps and it has stayed put.

I will try and post pics later.

There's a similar Pioneer sub that you can find fir a little over $100. I've read good things about it and would probably choose it to save a little cash.

Same. Lots of force applied in an accident. Even wedged behind the seat. Slam into something at 45+ and that thing will unwedge and fly forward.

Why not attach it to the back of the seat on the trunk side? (In the trunk) It wouldn't take up much trunk space and still produce a nice sound. Just an idea.
