Does usb port charge ipod?
I searched and looked through the manual but couldn't find a clear answer. Does stock usb port charge an ipod? Mine died this morning after an hour of driving. Its a brand new ipod classic, using the Apple charging cable that came with it.

My FR-S charges my iPhone, although kinda on the slowish side. I'm at a loss to explain why yours isn't working. Does the iPod classic draw more power, perhaps?

I'm charging/running a classis in my BRZ without any major issues. On occasion it doesn't sync up when starting the car so I have to unplug/replug the USB connector. But that's only happened a few times over the past several months. I leave my ipod in the car.

Not much of a charge. It's more to keep the phone on. Just get a cigarette lighter charger that does 1.5 amps. So much better.

Well the thing is only a week old. Disconnected on me once too and wouldn't sync back up until I restarted the car. I'll do a reset on the ipod I guess and see if that helps.

All iPhones and all iPods certainly do charge from USB, I'm not sure about the gen 1/gen 2 iPods, but I don't see why they wouldn't... The USB spec typically provides 5v and 500ma, more than enough to run and charge simultaneously. The iPod classic is a much newer model, so there's no reason it shouldn't work.
I vote to try a different cable. If that's not it, it could be the head unit jack or iPod port has failed. Syncing could be an issue with the head unit, OEM electronics tend to be finicky. |

My iPod Classic from 2006 (give or take a few years) doesn't have a problem staying charged. It is left in the car plugged in.
