ECU Charge???
I went to the dealership and ordered the new ECU. However, they told me they are going to charge me $55 to make any changes (i.e. turn off DRL, Passenger chime).
Do all dealerships charge this fee? |

I don't think so...
I think you're dealership is attempting to screw you for $55...

why wouldn't they charge for that? any work not covered under warranty you still have to pay.
If your Radio goes out and dealer replaces it, you think they are going to return your presets for free? They will probably charge you $55-$60 (which is average shop rate) to get your stations back.

Cite the TSB, or take it to another dealer. You can even press that they should have offered you the chance to set your options when the car was delivered. It takes them 5 minutes to plug in the techstream and click a few boxes. If not find a new dealer. Those guys are clearly not interested in customer service.

My dealer turned off the DRL for me before I even picked the car up. No charge. Sounds like a crap dealer to me.

Yeah they shouldn't be charging you for that. I took mine in to get the lock/unlock chirp volume adjusted and they never charged me for anything.

Sure there is some work involved, but it is so little, any dealership should do that for free just to make you happy with your BRAND NEW CAR! What is the likelyhood you will fill out the survey with negatives if they charge you $55 for something so silly. It should be part of the delivery to make sure you are happy. Most dealers I talk to will do just about anything to get top ratings on the surveys.

I thought it sounded like a rip off. This dealership has given me problems since the day I bought my car. I spent almost all my savings on this car and paid it off in one check. The least they could do is not charge me for such a basic and simple task.

I'd be tempted to pay the $55 just so i could get a survey. When dropping the car off, make strong mention that you want to make sure you receive a satisfaction survey so that you can share your thoughts. They screw their customers, screw them right back.
