Awful grinding!!!

Idk.... Has anyone else gone up a steep driveway/entrance at an angle and heard a grind? It seems to cause my traction control lights to flash and I hear a grind! It's not the bottom of the car scrapping either. The incline is not crazy steep either. Just seems lik when takin the angle to clear the front bumper and the car sits more on the 3 wheels goin up that I hear this grind. Just wanna know if anyone else has run into this problem or a possible defect with the car!

It's one of your wheels spinning and trying to gain traction. Due to the LSD's in our cars, when one of the wheels looses traction, espeically going up an incline or a drive way that is uneven, the LSD makes the wheel with no traction fight for traction and sometimes can sound like a grinding/rubbing noise. That's what my guess would be if nothing like your body is scraping on the ground.

cant say i do. the flywheel/clutch rattle at very low rpm is normal for a lightweight clutch im not sure if this is car comes with a dual mass flywheel but it could be the diff locking. going on the incline. not sure though havnt had my car make any noises other than the low rpm flywheel rattle sound. which my M3 did at low RPM.

Thanks! Yea not a scraping sound. More of a grinding sound. I avoid putting my car in that angle anymore so can't say for sure where it's coming from but it does hurt my stomach when I hear it. I was goin really slow as to not scrap the car but the first time I heard it I had the radio on. The next time I really heard it and it scared the crap outta me! Then again when goin in the entrance of a store. That is when I knew for sure my car doesn't like taking steep angles!

If the wheel slip light is coming on it sounds like the traction control is turning on and thats the grinding you hear.. It is fairly abrasive sounding.

you're losing traction going up whatever this incline is. Maybe it's slippery (pothole, uneven surface, gravel, imbeded oil, etc)

and your traction control is turning on

what you are hearing/feeling is.. traction control

also remember keeping any tcs will also effect tire wear. turn it off you have less wear on tires.

If your car loses traction that just to me means you're driving like a moron or way too fast and don't know your own limitations . All my rear wheel drive cars never came with traction control or vehicle stab. My foot is my traction control connect the link from brain to foot. Don't ever rely on a computer dude. The only time you should need traction control is in the rain or snow .

If you also ever want to track the car you'll limit your cornering because you're relying on tcs to keep you from sliding this is a mistake . Op turn that crap off unless its necessary. �� If anyone doesn't agree sorry but I've never had tcs in my cars before and don't slide off roads or hit trees. Which shows tcs is a luxury but not a necessity. That's my out look on it.

Traction control effectively uses the rear brake to give traction to both wheels when one is off the ground, that means it will be HARDER to climb up a slanted driveway with the electronics off. The LSD does not work with only 1 wheel with traction. The grinding sound is the ABS pump.

stability and traction control on the STREET is a GOOD thing, i don't care how awesome your initial-d skills are, when you're faced with hundreds of unpredictable events during a daily drive it is good to have your CPU buddy watching over you.

i dont mind tcs components its just nice to konw your vehicles limitations with them off people get to cocky behind the wheel and think tcs and vsc is going to make you godly. i just say learn the basics of the car raw. youll get a better understanding of how it works and feels mechanically. idk how to explain it, it makes sense in my head and while im driving someone else would describe this better id like to think.

and NOOO the FW14 was not a shitty car lol
