AVO Silicone Inlet and Sound Tube DIY
1. Recommended tools on hand - A flathead and philips head screwdriver, and some pliers. Yes, you could probably do it without them if you are on the side of the road and desperate, but it's generally suggested to have at least these.
![]() 2. AVO wire-reinforced Silicone Inlet and Sound Tube. Definitely a necessity. ![]() Removal of the standard inlet and sound tube. 3. Removal: Loosen off the big clamp on the OEM hose at the Intake Box end. ![]() 4. Loosen off the big clamp on the OEM hose at the throttle body end. ![]() 5. Use the pliers to loosen the clamp on the small breather line hose. ![]() 6. Then move the clip up and off the inlet to help with removal, and use the flathead screwdriver to carefully pry out the fitting. ![]() 7. Loosen off the clamp at end of the sound tube. ![]() 8. Carefully pull the sound tubed off. ![]() 9. Now carefully pull the entire inlet and sound tube assembly out of the engine. ![]() 10. Use the pliers to loosen the big clamp holding the resonator box on the stock inlet, and remove that box. Make sure to remember the orientation of the box (towards the front of the car). ![]() Part 2: Installation Installation is a simple reverse of the removal process. It's helpful to keep some sort of lubricant on hand, such as plain old dish soap, to help get fittings into the silicone pieces. 1. Fit the resonator box to the AVO Silicone Inlet. Check alignment of the box to make sure it's not rubbing on the pulleys. ![]() 2. Fit the AVO Silicone Inlet pipe back in to the throttle body, breather line, and intake box. Keep the clamps loose while you get everything lined up. Then fit the AVO Sound Tube to the inlet pipe. There is a metal pipe insert to fit the two pieces together with. ![]() 3. Tighten everything up, and you are ready to go!

A little over 10% increase in air flow through the inlet, with a much larger area at the bend vs. stock to smooth flow through. Additionally it gets rid of the accordion section and smooths that out.

I believe it was 10% greater flow than stock, and the fact that it's a smooth and consistent diameter (76mm) throughout, versus the crinkley oem hose.
Probably not much in the way hp gains doing it on its own, but when coupled with a panel filter (Which someone here proved was good for about 5whp), it'll probably make itself more known ![]() Edit: And I was too late in replying, but hey, at least I had the facts right XD |

I know you got decent prices for the packages, but would you be willing to do a Group buy?
