No more Kicker sub dealer accessory?

I've had my BRZ for a little over a month now. I was hoping to get the Kicker sub and amp in a box as a dealer accessory when it came out, but now it's no longer on Subaru's website.

Anyone know what happened to it? Did they delay it, or just give up on it completely?

Last accessory brochure I looked at at the Subie dealer now says "late 2012" for the factory sub. That's all I can tell you....

As awesome as factory accessories may seem, nobody should have to compromise their auditory happiness. Some options:
- Support your local car audio shop! They can build a system to your spec. Even with a Kicker sub. Ask around on CarAudioClassifieds, CarAudio, USACI, Termpro, or similar sites for local recommendations. Good shops do exist, but generally they don't work for free. :-P
- DIY! There are alot of experienced builders on the forum. PM me and I'll help you nail down an appropriate woofer and box specs. Even if you're squeamish about cutting wood, carpentry shops (or the saw guy at Home Depot) will cut MDF for a modest price.

@midnightfrolic - how is the CompVR 12 working out for you? 400w is just enough to get a headache on long drives, without generating unnecessary attention.

Absolutely, anyone in New England should considering Audiowerks in Tewksbury, MA. They do exceptional work.

I'm leaning pretty strongly to the OEM Audio Plus solution.

Does the OEM audio plus fix the volume issue on the stock BRZ head unit. I had to turn mine up past 75% just to hear it decently on the highway.

I really like the OEM Audio Plus parts. $1100 for a sub, enclosure, tweeter replacement, and a configured DSP solution. It will satisfy the majority of users and works "out of the box".

For the DIY among us... the SQ crowd has had great success with JBL MS-8, Audison Bit One, and Alpine PXA-H800. High and low level inputs, quality DACs, 30 band EQ per channel, plenty of crossover settings, time align, dynamic EQ (by volume), center channel processing. All the goodies.

Each has their own benefit. The MS-8 comes with a built-in 8 channel amp, the Bit One integrates with Audison amps, and the Alpine can use their Imprint autotuning tech. No bad choices in the bunch though.

I'm totally fine with looking elsewhere. I just wanted to bump this thread in case people really wanted to stick with a dealer-installed and warrantied sub.

I'm not really into supporting local shops for stuff like that. Mess gets expensive in Alaska. It's cheaper to buy out-of-state and have my trusted shop install.

I'm liking the OEM Audio Plus.

Just got off the phone with OEM Audio Plus. Having them look into compatibility of the Pioneer AVH-P8400BT unit for me. Their system seems legit and customer service was very impressive for just discussing the brand. Top notch.
