For 15 years I've installed a Scangauge 2 in all my vehicles. I'm gonna do the same in my new Twin unless there's something better. Is this still the gold standard for this type of gauge or has anything improved since the Spice Girls retired?

I can't offer anything better, just an FYI: Have you ever upgraded the firmware on your ScanGauge? There have been a few new releases over the years and with a new vehicle it might be useful to check here:

Spice girls were so good at monitoring engines, a F1 manager married one to monitor his "engine".

Do you already have a ScanGauge, or plan to buy a new one?
Keep in mind that the 2022 has a lot less data available via the OBD-II port, and more data available in the gauge cluster.
The benefits of having a ScanGauge might be minimal.

I'd agree on this. You got your volts, your coolant temp, and your oil temp. There's probably oil pressure there too - I haven't gone looking and now that I think about it I probably should.

As far as stuff to know while operating a vehicle that ought to be occupying the bulk of your attention... I can't really think of what I'd want to add. Past a certain point you're just overloading on information and forgetting to dig the ride.

But I'm also fairly old. I learned to drive on a car with a manual choke and can sometimes diagnose engine problems in the car in front of me based on how it smells driving in their wake.

There's no oil pressure sensor in the car.
