BRZ quick connect vs barb fuel lines

Hi all, my 2018 AUDM BRZ came with barb style fittings on all the fuel lines (see photo 1). Most of the guides on the internet already had quick fit type connectors on their fuel lines.

So when I tried to connect my ethanol sensor using all quick fit hardware, it wasn't compatible. You can see the style of fuel fitting in photo 2.

Is the quick fit hardware by definition not able to be fit onto the barbs?
Has anyone with these types of fittings installed an ethanol sensor?

Quick connect fittings shouldn't go over a barb. I assume you already tried. The first picture is broken for me, but I'm assuming your flex fuel kit has no ends that aren't occupied with a fitting. If you can return the fuel lines and build your own, that would be ideal. If not, it's possible you could remove the fittings and attempt to simply clamp the hose on like it was from the factory.

Alternatively you could cut the end of that Barb off to expose a longer length of smooth tube for your quick connect to seat on. However this would require you to pull off the fuel rail or employ some other means to back flush the tube to clear the metal chips/dust

Thanks, I'll have to go for barb fittings and rubber hose!

Let this be a warning for anyone looking for fittings to do ethanol!

Maybe you can convert your bare hose ends to quick connect ends with an appropriate size adapter.

I guess the AU version has different lines there? Was this new or modified prior to you buying?

I seen it on Euro cars too. It is a factory thing from some markets.

definitely all stock lines. I guess some people have quick connect, some people have barbs. The majority of DIY's on youtube have the quick connects

I ended up just using push on hoses. I do have barb to quick connect adapters for the ethanol sensor
