p0365, p0366, p0340, p0341
This started with slight loss of power but initially no cel. Good oil pressure and temps. Brought it into paddock. Cut it off. On restart it ran rough and I got P0303. It was late, I drove it 10 miles to and from motel. Then it started running rougher and the cam codes (p0365, p0366, p0340, p0341) popped up. I trailered it home, replaced # 3coil pack and plug. Cleared codes, cam codes came back. Rough idle, dies when I open throttle. No mechanical sounds to indicate busted rocker arm. The n/a engine has 10k on rebuild with oversize Ferrea valves and springs. Builder suggests over-rev (which didn't happen) with rocker arm or valve spring damage. Going to pull valve cover and check compression tomorrow when it's warmer. Any other ideas? Thx.

Nothing indicates that it is mechanical based on those codes. I'd start by inspecting the sensors, connectors, and wire harness to the sensors. Those are easy to damage pulling the engine, especially the exhaust cam sensors.

Thanks. The engine has been in the car for a couple of years. I did put a new clutch in couple of months ago. I'll go over the connections again.

It gets worse. Dropped both intake rockers on cyl #3 and broke bank 1 timing chain.

Well that explains the codes. Wonder what killed the chain? Both my rockers that kicked out stayed in their general area.

It's kind of a mystery. The rockers were just laying in the bottom of the valve cover. No damage to cams or cover. Shims were still on the valves. Pivots were in place. Just losing rockers shouldn't break the chain. I was on the track when it started losing power but there was no catastrophic moment where things went bad. I'm looking for an FA20 engine builder in my general geographical area for the repair. My original guy moved out of the area.

Update
Finally found someone I trust (Perfect Circle Engines, Bunker Hill, WVa) to look at my engine. He's got the top end torn down. We're not sure what's going on with #3 cylinder/piston so he's going to disassemble the bottom end.
