Ecutek E85 Flex Fuel Tune

Hello,

Im moving from OFT to ecutek now. Gruppe s uel header with op. I got a quote from a well known tuner, Neal from Racers Line. Flex fuel kit+Na flex tune dyno tune+ license for $1903. that seems....pretty steep to me. I understand you shouldnt cheap out on a tune but my set up isnt forced induction. NA flex fuel? he's charging me 3 hours of tuning for $825. Am i being cheap or am i getting ripped off.

I might just get it tune from CSG Zach. Would a etune from a good tuner(zach) be better than a custom dyno tune from shop?

Thanks!

Doubtful that an e-tune will beat out a dyno tune. Racer's Line is pretty reputable. $800 sounds about right for dyno time. From what I'm aware, I believe Racer's Line also works closely with Zach and CSG.

Really up to you if you want to shoot for every single horsepower with a dyno tune. An e-tune will maybe get you 95% to what a dyno might net you. You obviously pay the price though.

Things like this have diminishing returns, like buying higher and higher end coffee. At some point, the difference/value proposition will not be worth it to you unless you're a super enthusiast or connoisseur.

Yea Zach is tuning the car at TRL. First time I’m really paying any money for performance or at all, Other than the headers i just installed.

I agree about the diminishing returnings. I think since I could get most of the potential power with an Etune. And the etune comes witht the dongle=D what i mostly want is driveability. I heard etunes give that. And the etune is with Zach anyways.

What made you want to go with Ecutek now instead of OFT? I’m just curious since I feel like me and you are on the same boat currently. Thanks!

Well, sort of.

etunes don't "come with the dongle" free. You pay for it. Alternatively you can borrow someone's if you want to avoid the expense.

Ecutek was the destination from the start, eventually was gonna go FI. Was gonna do it now, but with all the coronavirus, i figure not to spend that kind of money on something like now. But i felt an itch and decided to get headers and a tune. a bit cheaper.

Ecutek has alot of features, which i wont use honestly. The best feature and the only one i would only use if map switching. Thats kinda cool.

But the reason im gonna go ecutek really is i found out that the best tuner for this platform is only like an hour away. he does ecutek so yea thats really why. Zach from CSG is gonna be the one dyno tuning my car if i do decide to do it that way. dunno if its worth it for the dyno tune but for sure going to ecutek. i kinda wanna experience the custom dyno tuning. on OFT there are things that you know that are off. yea it runs but i rather have this car run smoothly. Ecutek has ssoooo many tuners for it. i kinda wish i went Ace headers. then id be certain id do a custom dyno tune.

yea i am but it comes with the package deal. for about under 1k, etune+license+dongle

my place 1100, custom dyno tune+license. so its not that bad but i know i would want the dongle/bluetooth eventually so its like another 350.
1450 now thats a big gap. i know i would like to datalog i know its not really worth it since im barely headers and OP. if i was FI it would be worth it.

just wish i went with ace headers. now who wants this new gruppe s header?
