Oil Leak - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

So im having an oil leak after 7 months of boosting. I took it to a mechanic and he said i have too much 90 degrees on my oil line which could cause the leak to come out. Anyone else have this issue? If so, any advice?

What the technician was inferring was that with too many 90 degree bends, you're adding pressure points on those fittings. The leak is probably from one of the fittings. Otherwise, an oil leak is a result of something having a hole, not being tight, or gasket material missing; it has nothing to do with your car being boosted.

Just find the source of the leak and have it fixed

i would have them put a UV dye in the crankcase so at least they're not guessing

Oh that makes sense Ill have it looked at and everything. Tech speculated since im boosted it starts leaking from one of those fittings when hitting boost.

Unless your forced induction is supplying forced air into your oil, this doesn't make sense. Oil pressure is driven by RPM (it's just a manual gear driven pump) so the WAY your car makes power doesn't affect oil pressure. I would

the tech and bring it elsewhere for review if they're really suggesting that.
The only place boost would force oil past are the PCV and crankcase. Those would leak internally though, not at a fitting.

a stock PCV can leak and boost can go inside crankcase actually.... guess what's inside the crankcase?
Usually it's adviced to use a WRX PCV or a oneway check valve between the PCV and the intake manifold

Lol thats what i said but not really sure and then when the tech said something else it made me doubt what i knew lol

Update on my oil leak. It was coming from the oil pressure switch. Anyone wanna chime in to see if its an expensive cost or could easily be fixed at home kind of thing

Do not even try to fix it, a new oil pressure switch is about 10 dollars from Toyota
