On the List, Already Thinking Seats

I just ordered my BRZ! I held off, waited patiently to see if there would be painful design flaws. I can live with the torque dip.

Now seats. It's been about 100 all summer here. I love the leather and alacantra interior on the Limited. But this is 2012, and vented seats are not new. W/remote start, the car can be cooled off by the time you get in, and the vented seats can prevent swamp back/butt for those of us in the humid 100 degree south.

The Recaro seat for this non-racing use case seems to be (correct me if I'm wrong):
http://www.recaro-automotive.com/us/.../style-xl.html
The Style XL TopLine

The downside seems to be this seat doesn't have the custom stitching program, so I couldn't get it in black w/red stitching to match the Limited trim.

Ideas?

Unknowns:
1. brackets, do I need custom ones?
2. Power, am I going to have to splice cables?
3. Integration, can I make the factory heat switch work? could I make a switch for ventilation mode that looks OEM-ish?

From the swampy hot south,
Tjoy

PS: I probably have about 3 months to figure it out. So no biggie. I wish there was a group buy for vented seats that match the OEM colors/stitching because I would have the seats waiting on the car to arrive.

got me curious... wonder how much this would cost. This is the single thing that I miss from trading in my IS250 for my BRZ

1900 for the pair I believe. I am guessing getting red-stitched black leather would be a bit more as a custom thing. But maybe if enough people wanted them there could be a group buy attempt.

According to the Recaro seat finder, the "Sport Topline" model has this feature (although the product page doesn't list it).

On a sales page from a reseller "Sport Topline comes with the RECARO climate package. Integrated heating in seat cushion and seat back relaxes the muscular system on cold days, providing pleasant sitting conditions. The RECARO vent system provides pleasantly dry sitting conditions even in hot weather."

This is also a cheaper seat than the Style Topline XL and has a racing style.

I've got vented seats in my 370Z roadster and while nice when it's about 80, they do nothing when it is 100 degrees. I'd definitively look for customer reviews of any seats you're wanting to install to see if they really would provide much relief in 100+ weather.

According to the seat finder. They also have a model with both vents and a side airbag. Whether or not these would work in our cars well..... maybe an integrator could test? I see Vivid sells these seats. Maybe they could see what's required, possible.
