Cheap track day this Sunday!

Hey guys,

An old college friend of mine, Martin, recently got in touch with me regarding a new project of his. He is holding a track day down at the Jackson County Sports Park just North of Medford. It's a 3/4 mile kart track with a multitude of configurations. Why would we travel all the way down there for just a kart track? Because for a 6 hour half day session the cost is only $50. If you want to do both the morning and afternoon session, it's only $100! Additionally, the event is being limited to twelve cars per session!! It should add up to lots of track time.

He has track insurance for the event and is going to use Siskiyou Sports Car Club, (basically SCCA Auto-X rules.) There is talk of doing a grip touge style, one-on-one, staggered start, competition (read: NOT DRIFTING!) It's not finalized, but you should know it's in the works. I'm going to advocate the touge should be eliminated for the first event, or at a minimum, limited to intermediate/advanced run group drivers.

The date for the event is August 5th, and there are plenty of slots remaining. Feel free to spread the word around to those who would be receptive. There will be a tech inspection before each of the sessions. There are no driver pre-reqs, but I have extended an offer to instruct to those that need or want it. Due to the width of the track there will likely be zero passing, but obviously not all 12 cars will be on track. Imagine this as a hybrid between a traditional track day and auto x. Final rules will be set this weekend.

We will not tolerate disrespectful or idiotic behavior! Martin has no problem telling people to pack up and head out if they are putting themselves, others, or the program at undue risk. We all know high performance driving is inherently dangerous, and the goal is for this to be the first of many events around the region - we can only accomplish this by keeping events safe, ordered, and of course, fun.

And of course, all cars are welcome.

Here is The Rallye Society's website with info on the event itself, http://www.rallyesociety.org/registe...day+August+5th

And a video of the track (I don't know which layout we'll be using, and sorry for the lousy audio,) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT5WZY0XFQc"]Siskiyou Sports Car Club Fall Enduro 2010 - Sunday Race (EM class Track Record) - YouTube[/ame]
