Out of alignment after going over a curb:(
hey guys i hope you guys can help me with some knowledge i don’t have, two days ago i had a little accident, went over a curb doing maybe 10mph. no body damage and wheel is little bit dented in but doesn’t mess up the balance. however it’s out of alignment
while steering wheel is center my right wheel is pointing straight and my left wheel(one went over the curb) is pointing slightly toe out. the car doesn’t pull to one side when i drive it and when i visually checked LCA and tie rod nothing seems to be bent or damage. I will be taking in for alignment check first thing when i’m free but the concerned part is after the small incident my traction control and abs lights came on and stayed. this morning when i had to go to work the lights were gone! and was able to use my cruise control. right before i pull into my work parking lot those lights came back on.. could it just be because of out of alignment? or are we talking about replacing the speed sensor..

If the steering wheel and yaw rate sensor disagree a lot, like the steering angle sensor telling the computer "I'm turning" and the yaw sensor telling the computer "naw man we're going straight", that can cause issues.
Then again, if the control arm or tie rod aren't bent and there is a visible difference in toe, you've probably got a bigger issue than the abs light, like a bent shock or steering knuckle |

VSC is super sensitive. It knows the car isn't tracking properly. Repair the actual damage and it will calm down.

Did you get the code out of it? If so what was it?
A while ago I got traction light and check engine light come on. It happened when I took a corner a bit too fast and got it to side for a second. It was raining so that made it slip. Anyway I got P1449 on my scan tool, not much help on that so I hit up my local autozone used their scan tool same code. Went in to my local mechanic he checked it out, ran tests every thing came out fine sensors where all working fine, cleared the engine code, month later daily driving nothing has popped back up all running fine. I'm scratching my head my mechanic was scratching his head as why it freaked out over a little slide. Eh. Moral of the story check out the code, if nothing wrong, clear it and if it pop back again then find the fix. Or set the car on fire and move on

If the front wheel are pointing different directions you broke/bent some parts.
Check it out or take it somewhere to see what is wrong. Hitting a curb at any speed can cause more damage than you think.

It has been my experience, that if you slam into a curb with any car, you might as well make an appointment with an alignment shop and have your insurance companies phone number ready or have a few hundred dollars extra in your checking account. ![]() humfrz |
