Question for those have flex fuel kit installed
Are you switching fuels from tank to tank or stick with with either petro or E85 most of time? I was told it’s not good for our gas tank if we fill up with E85 all the time since it was not designed for it, any truth to this?

Absolute bullshit. Any modern car (last 10 years especially so) has a fuel system to handle E15 fuel for the life of the car. That means it's fine with pretty much any concentration of ethanol.

So is it better for the car to stick with one fuel until you have the need for the other?

The fuel switch is to help keep your valves clean. Ethanol does not have the detergents that pump gas has.

Quote:
It depends where you get your gas. Ethanol itself works better as a solvent than gasoline, but top tier gasoline brands (Shell, Mobil, etc.) put extra detergents in the gasoline so it cleans better. |

Top tier gas brands have been putting above the minimum needed since 1995, it's just a marketing tool now. The "extra" doesn't do anything except to convince you to get their brand.

I recommend you just run a tank of 91 here and there. I run 91 through my brz every 3-5 tanks or so, typically on my way back from the track (because there is no ethanol by the tracks and I only take as much as I need to run the day).
