Wheel fitment & strut spacing
I looked over the wheel fitment guide but it doesn't mention at what point I may need to get coil overs to fit new wider wheels & tires
I have a FRS-1 that has the TRD lowering springs ( 0.6" lower than stock?? not sure ) I would like to go with 18 x 7.5 fronts and 18 x 8.5 rears. If I stay with the offsets listed for "lowered flush fit" in the fitment guide for those wheel sizes, will my stock struts and TRD springs be OK? And if the wheels don't come with the needed offset, how do I get negative offset for a rear wheel that comes only +44 but I need +32? Can they be machined down? Also, will any fenders need to be "rolled"? New at this so could use experienced help or directing to appropriate topics. Thanks : )

17x9 +45 is the threshold that I use. (for spring and wheel clearance) I would not get staggered wheels. IMO, getting a lower offset wheel and some camber bolts, is a good option. TRD springs work well with stock struts and will lower your car approx. 1". I got -1.8 & -2.2 rear natural camber from lowering 1". I added camber bolts up front that are set approx. -1.4. My suggestion: Get four 18x8.5 Wheels (with a +30 to +40 offset) and 225/40/18's, camber bolts, TRD springs, and an alignment. IMO, +30 18x8.5 is great for being flush when lowered 1". Machining the wheels is not how that works. A +44 wheel with a 10mm spacer added = +34 wheel offset. You subtract the spacer not add it (in this specific case) Your fenders will not need rolled. No. You need to add a spacer to reduce offset. Unless you buy a custom machined spacer, you'd get a 1/2-inch spacer and your offset will be about 35mm. But that's too thick of a spacer for stock wheel studs (IMO). You should find a wheel you like with 35mm offset...

Thanks for the replies. Leonardo, if those are 18 x 8.5s on TRD springs then that is the look I want. Not too low so I can't get in my driveway. The problem I have is I have narrowed it down to only 3 wheels that I even like. The offset options are just now there. Each wheel type only comes in one offset for our "exclusive" 5x100 bolt pattern.
Motegi MR127 is 18 x 8 x +38 Konig Ampliform is 18 x 8.5 x +44 Ace Alloy Mesh 7 is 19 x 8.5 x +45 I like the 19"s allot but only available on the one wheel. Snyperiflex FRS-1 is really nice. His are Vossen 19". http://picbear.online/snyperiflex

Thanks for the advice on the 19"s. I was thinking about the added weight but not the other cons you mention. The look-a-likes are nice but not quite there. I can't do multi-bore wheels of any kind. So I'm settled on the Motegi's or Konigs then at least one eliminated : ) Love the satin black with the Yazu yellow. Love the dark bronze of the Konigs too. So I'll have to do spacers with longer studs. Will there be any setbacks to the spacers/studs with 285 hP motor? I have a Rotrex supercharger. Just bought the car this Saturday. Switched from 13' BRZ to FRS-1 supercharged by Jackson Racing. LOL must change my sig.)

I went with the 18 x 8 motegi MR127's
I found this really handy tire and wheel size and offset calculator. https://tiresize.com/tires/Scion/FR-S Scroll down to tire tools then... Input the stock wheel & tire size then input what new sizes you would like to try and it does all the work including a graphic of what the new setup will look like compared to stick. Speedo adjustment specs too. Very nice tool.

I got the new wheels and bolted them up yesterday. The front look great with the 38mm offset : ) The wheels are 18 x 8 x 38mm.
The rears need an 8mm spacer to match the front stance so I guess ill have to have those made up by Motorsport Tech. Also the hub rings they sent me are plastic! I'll have some aluminum rings made up at the same time. Will post pics when done. The car is temporarily stuck in my tight garage space due to construction: /
