LS Accessory Drive Spacing

Hey hey. I'm getting parts ready for my LSX swap pretty soon and am wondering how much room there is between the radiator fans and the LS accessory drive?

It would be useful to know if the stock accessories could be used when using a truck motor (lq4) vs having to swap them with the F-body or Corvette accessories.

According to holly, there's only a 3/4" different between the truck and f-body (typical camaro ls1), accessory drive.

I plan on picking up which ever motor I can get first/cheapest but would like to know if there's an extra 1.5" of space between the fans and motor.

Thanks

Covette - F-Body - Truck

LS Accessory Drive Spacing

It’s possible you could swing it with slim fan setup, and maybe spacing the radiator a little bit forward.
@DustinS would be able to tell you more I think.

That. Would. Be. Awesome. Scooting it forward *shouldn't* be difficult, maybe when @DustinS chimes in he can tell me if there's clearance issues with the front cross member. Even that wouldn't be hard to notch and strengthen with a few angles. A little fab work never hurt anyone.

from what I have gathered. The CX racing kit uses F body accessories and it is very close. You even have to trim the hood latch assembly which is less than ideal. Truck accessories let alone the water pump, I would think wouldn't work very well. Switch to CTSV or corvette accessories if you can.

Do you have to run an aftermarket radiator or has anyone used the stock?

Ok cool. I'm all for cars being a never ending project so I think the "sensible" way to go is to find an C5 (1997-2004) LS/T56 package from the get go, slap a gto shifter on it and call it a day.

Probably way easier to find one out of an F-Body though, so when I start having cooling issues, which is likely be immediately, I'll try to push the radiator forward a bit and slap on some junkyard C5 accessories in her.

Awesome info, thanks!

Damnit you're right. Different mainshaft to fit it to any of the other LSX's among another things. Good looking out

I'd say aftermarket. The stock radiator is tiny and I know for a fact (a local tried it) it's not enough for a 2JZ.

Popular radiator but having good fans and a shroud thats mounted so it doesn't let air escape is likely more valuable than the brand name itself. Get a good 3 row and you should be good.

I recommend the Full Blown Radiator. I don't have any issues with mine.

I am using CTS-V accessories and it is pretty close. I'll try and get some photos later today. I removed the hood latch to make room for intake/venting. So I don't have the center support beam.

Really appreciate the photos man! So awesome. Kind of hard to tell from the angle on the last pic, but does the crank pulley sit above the front crossmember? On the first picture, it looks like it absolutely does not, and the second looks like it absolutely does haha.
