Noise when manually shifting auto
I don't usually shift manually but lately I've been doing some aggressive driving for datalogging a new tune. If I get past 7000 rpm and shift, it makes a blow off kind of squeak.
I noticed it since I've got it but didn't really pay attention and hitting 7k a lot has me wondering what it is. This is not the fluttering blow off sound but one single squeak. Any other auto drivers that shift aggressively hear this? Nothing comes up in here or a Google search. |

Depending on your exhaust setup, maybe faint afterfire? With my setup, you hear the crack on upshifts. Lower in the rev range is louder than higher for me.

I have not noticed anything like that, though I've also admittedly not been up past 7k recently except for a handful of times over the last month (shameful, I know). I guess now that you've mentioned it I'll probably try and see if I do notice anything. My past experiences I recall hearing a lot of gear whine noise, but never a squeak or air-related noise when shifting.
When you're doing these manual shifts, is your shifter in "D" or "M"? Do you hear anything similar on downshifts? Does it happen if you let the car shift itself around 7k or in Sport mode? And what's the car's mileage? Any other mods besides the tune?

This is only when "m" and on upshifts. Doesn't do it in "D" with or without sports mode on. Gruppe-s UEL header and OP and stock back from there.
It was making this sound before the tune and header when it was all stock. 15k miles and everything is running perfect and all maintenance carefully watched. |

Any way you can (safely) get a sound clip? I'm stumped not being able to hear what you mean. I've heard once in a while a little air suction noise from under the hood on downshifts, usually a downshift into 1st, but it has happened in other gears on downshifts, and it's just a split second noise that sounds cool, lol. I'm wondering if what you're describing is the same thing, but I don't think I've ever heard it on an upshift.
