I dont know where is the a/c compressor located and i saw underneath the engine (driver side) a small amount of droplets loll im thinking its water? but i didnt turn on my a/c only the heater.

By half full; do you mean the radiator or overflow?

Cause: Overflow at half is normal. Radiator half full is not normal.

Yes. If you take the cap off the radiator, I bet it's full. The system has the overflow/reservoir because the level fluctuates with use.

Hello eddwvrd,

I suggest you check your car's drivers manual for some more information.

On my 2013 FR-S, I like to see the level of coolant in the overflow tank about half way between the full and low lines, when the car is cold.

If the level falls below that you may either add the recommended "blue" stuff or if it just needs a little, some distilled or de-mineralized water will be OK.

The drops of liquid on the floor under your may be ice from the A/C condenser melting off. Even though you don't have your A/C "turned on" it will still run if the defrosters are being used.

To find out taste it ...... if it tastes like oil ..... it's oil; if it tastes like water .... it's water ...... if it tastes like the blue stuff in the coolant tank ..... it's coolant (don't drink it! .......).

Any other questions .......

The manual will specify "Toyota Genuine 50/50 Pre-mixed Super Long Life Coolant BLUE".

Yes it's pricy but this is NOT the place to skimp, unless you have a PhD in chemistry and you know the proprietary ingredient that isn't specified on the MSDS.

Now, that stuff is 50% special coolant and 50% deionized water (that mixture will protect the cooling system down to -31 degree F).

So, since you are in Virginia, it would be just fine to top the coolant level with either deionized or distilled water (found at any grocery store).

So, just get yourself a jug of distilled water and pour a cup or two in when the level gets low and don't worry about it.

Back-in-the-day, before permanent anti-freeze was invented, we would just use a 50/50 water alcohol mix. Life was simpler ....... and when you would get pulled over, and had been drinking, you could just tell the LEO that the smell of alcohol was your radiator boiling over.
