Question about crackle and pop..

I was wondering how to get my car crackle and pop just for... fun.

I know with the openflash tablet you can have a special tune for it but the thing is:
I dont have OFT

I have Ecutek

Running a gruppe s uel headers and overpipe, invidia catless resonated front pipe and an invidia n1

Now the question is:

Should i get a special tune added to my ecutek so i can switch between normal and let say crackle and pop

OR

Should i change my front pipe for a none resonated (which i dont really want since i really like the sound but if i have to do it for the pop then... )

OR

Both?

Let me know what you think is the best way, what would work and what wouldnt

Tank you

adding pops is just as simple with ecutek as oft.

with ecutek you can just switch it in via a custom map.

you can use either a spare map mode to switch it on/off or switch it via the TRAC/VSC switches on console, ie pops only in vsc/sport mode

I switch map with my cruise control,

But we have 2 different answer....

My car did 3 huge pop in 8000km i think the resonator delete will help yes but if i have the tune reworked it would help a lot more .. right?

Or i can just get the tune done and if its not enough for me i delete the resonator

You don't necessarily need to change to unresonated front pipe if you pull the timing enough when you let off the throttle in the tune, but it will be easier to achieve the pops/crackles with an unresonated front pipe and the system you're running.

You can use Ecutek or OFT doesn't matter, you just have to get someone to input that sort of change in your tune for you.

And to think I used to spend hours fiddling carburetors to keep cars from crackling and popping.

Yep, back in the day ....... just cut off the ignition switch and turn it back on ..... gets you a BIG pop. The crackling comes after that, as the muffler is dragging on the road ........

The resonator has nothing to do with pops and bangs. At all. Look up what a resonator does.

I've played with this (OFT, but Ecutek can do it just as easy) and the hardware that silences pops and bangs are cats and your axleback. Even with cats you can get some pops and bangs, but a muffler kills the sound.

I recently experimented with making pops and bangs (going by the instructions in that thread) and tried a few different things, playing around. Then I wanted to go back to the stock stage 2 OTS tune for a 900 mile road trip to the Tail of the Dragon. Just to quiet the car down for the long trip. But my OFT screen broke and I didn't have time to get another or fix it so I took the trip with my loud ass pops and bangs tune. I had a Berk muffler delete too, so it was LOUD. So I strapped on the OEM muffler. What popped and banged like crazy before, barely made any noise after.

Leave the resonators alone. Get rid of the cats. Lose the muffler. Tune it.
