New rear gearing and autocross.

Does the new rear end gear ratio come into play(autocross) since it lowers the 2nd top mph?

BTW, what is the top mph in 2nd with the new ratio?

In stock classes, yes it will. The 2017 car will go 57mph in 2nd gear, stock (stock sized tires).

In ST trim (255/40 tires), and 7800rpm limiter, I can get to 62mph. My 2013 FRS did 61-62mph with a 7650rpm limiter and 245/40 tires.

The 2017 car does feel noticeably quicker than the earlier cars, because of the gearing. In ST trim, I think the new/older cars are still mostly equal, just different.

4.56 gears drop the limiter enough that I know it negatively impacts my car on most courses.

255/40/17 tire size makes up for the gearing of the new cars vs the old. Like Justin said they are very close but in theory the new car should be better.
