universal oil catch can questions

Hey guys, i'm looking at all the different catch cans on the market and it made me think...

whats the difference between the low end ones like Cusco which is about $130 and universal ones you can find on eBay for like $20.

Since this isn't a make a break upgrade for these cars, how much value are you really getting for a name brand can?

Examples below

Universal can

Usually the ones made for our car come with specific mounting hardware and cut to length hosing. The universal ones leave you to figure that out for yourself. Catch cans with some sort of baffling tend to do their job better but in times gone past people would just use steel wool to increase the internal surface area.

I have a universal Mishimoto catch can and I had to find a place to mount it and had to do a little extra work and buy a couple fittings. Universal hardware tends to be that way whereas model-specific hardware is easier and cleaner to install. The Mishi has baffling, a brass screen and an extra port on the bottom for quick emptying (I added a valve on to the bottom port so emptying is really quick and easy). I have it mounted to the firewall. Works awesome. But being universal it did take a little extra work and doesn't look as nice as some of the FRS specific ones I have seen. the Mishi was also only $100

the cheapo $20 catch cans will have an in-port and an out-port with no baffling, so it won't separate the air & oil as well. It may not even have mounting hardware.
