Line output converter help - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I've searched and searched, but I haven't found anything concrete on this. I'm adding a line output converter to my 2014 scion frs. I'm wanting to tap into the factory amp in the back. The wire colors aren't matched at all(thanks Toyota). If I'm in the backseat, looking down on the amp, are the word I need to splice into the rear speakers, the ones that are furthest to the right? I tried attaching a picture, but I'm not sure if it worked.

Basically this. What I did was I bought two metra harnesses, Metra 70-1761 and Metra 71-1761. They are basically the male and female harnesses which attach to the factory harness at your factory amp. Use the link above as a guide to repin the metra harnesses. You will not be touching anything factory at all. Just make sure that your male/female ends are mirror images of each other (I made this mistake and blew a fuse). Then take the ends of the cables on the metra harnesses and just twist them together or solder (though make sure it is all working before you solder). You can now easily connect a line-out converter to the metra L and R speaker wires from the metra harnesses. If you ever want to remove the set-up, you just unclip your metra harnesses from the factory harness and amp. As an FYI you don't need to use the metra harnesses for the power and ground at all, so I would just leave the oem plug in there unless you want to power some other accessory back there. Good luck! I would post pics but my cables are mangled atm and I would need to untangle it all.

I highly recommend the audiocontrol lc2i. My amp has high level inputs, but I got a lot of hissing from that. Put in the lc2i and it fixed things, plus it sounded a lot better overall. The unit gives you the ability for independent level adjustment of your front channel and sub channel as well. The bonus with using the Metra harness is that I was able easily to tap power and ground for the lc2i.
