Corrupt SD - blackvue dr650gw-2ch

So, my 64GB is showing 243GB filled. The "/record" folder is filled random corrupt files that can't be deleted.

I attempted to format multiple times using the Blackvue with no success.
Anything I should do to prevent this from happening again?

Some of the corrupt files.

connect the card to your computer and format it to fat32. it is recommended to use FAT32 for 64GB+ cards in dashcams. you will need a program to format it though, I personally use GUIformat - http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/ind...?guiformat.htm

I believe the blackvue formats cards in exfat and although it works for cards 32GB and under, it doesn't work well with higher memory cards

The card was in FAT32 format, but, I'm unable to format due to the file name length. Also, it's still showing 400GB+, so trying multiple tools to format (Windows, GUIFormat, SDFormatter) all state it's locked or being used...

But, what would cause this kind of corruption? Power discharge? Heat? Software?

Try taking off that read-only attribute on the root folder and see what happens.

Also, in your op, you mentioned its a 64 gig SD card, but has 243gigs worth of files??? Typo, I presume?

Also, your SD card a SanDisk brand, by any chance? I used to browse the dashcam forum and almost with every dashcam out there, SanDisks don't work well.

to me, it sounds like it was a heat problem in conjunction with too many writing cycles. most people on the dashcam forums recommend reformatting the SD card every month or two to keep it fresh.

have you tried renaming the card through windows and personally deleting the files? I have never encountered a problem like yours though where the file size is larger than the actual card... worst case scenario is that the card is done for.

EDIT: I forgot to mention if you had ran the formatter programs as admin or not.

Nope, if you look in the imgur link, Windows is showing 450+ GB man, freaking insane.
It's technically the BlackVue SD card that came w/ my camera.

I tried renaming, and deleting the folder, but due to the corrupt files having an overly large name it errors. Using command line, format options, third party options...Ran all the apps as admin.

Oh, I even tried formatting from the dashcam (holding down the WiFi button) nothing happens. It gives me a verbal saying it's formatting, reboots, no change in data.

I think what ryoma posted is the cause of your issues. Just for funsies, insert another SD card if you have one and see if it'll record footage like normal and not produce corrupted files. If that's the case, the SD card right now is simply toast.
