Engine starts but doesn't run
Hey guys, I have two CEL codes which I posted about on a earlier thread
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101578 But on a separate note because I don't think my two CEL codes are preventing me from starting and running my engine (Please correct me if I'm wrong). Battery is at 13.5 volts. all lighting works, alarm works, car is stock with no mods. Just put in 20L of premium Shell VPower Nitro just to make sure it wasn't the gas decomposing and causing issues. When I put my key and turn it once, my accessories are all powered on and I hear a whirring sound (Common apparently due to throttle opening, I may be wrong). Then when I turn my key again, all my lights come up on the cluster. Try starting my car and it cranks, so I think the starter works and then it ceases and fails to run the actual engine and goes out with a giant puff sound which I think is air being sucked from the intake area (which I took off cos it was broken). Any ideas fellow twin owners/enthusiasts? Thanks in advance. EDIT: Got in to a front end crash. Last edited by driftking96; 02-15-2016 at 07:13 PM. |

What stock intake piece? And did you just leave it open or plug it somehow? Anyways if you don't think that's what it is, then all good. You're the one who asked.
Your post reads that you removed the "air intake area" which is confusing since it sounds like your trying to start your car with no intake. You said your car was stock so if you removed the OEM intake and have nothing there that might be the problem lol. |

both codes relate to throttle actuator issues. pull off the intake and make sure nothig is stuck in throttle plate turn ignition on ( dont try to start) get a friend press throttle and see if throttle plate moves full range freely. |

*Looks at username* ...We want to hear the story of this front-end accident. With pics.
Then we will help you fix it. The pictures will help in that endeavor. Need to see the throttle body and intake manifold before I can help with the actuator and min stop code. If the throttle body motor isn't working properly, the car will not start or idle. It's a drive-by-wire throttle.

I am rebuilding a salvage title FRS, and had this same issue last week.
My issue was grounding.... My injector driver module (EDU) stand was broken and it was just sitting next to the baterry, I added a ground cable to it and the car started with no problem. |

Lol I didn't mention accident cos its like mentioning something bad. Not proud of it but w.e my fault for not educating you guys enough about the issue I have. Anyways I checked the throttle body when I had some time today and turns out I had a plastic piece stuck in it. I'm hoping it will clear the engine codes and then I will continue to remove and inspect the manifold just to be safe. I attempted to start the car before and I failed. I'm just hoping I didn't damage anything due to me not knowing the plastic piece was affecting the throttle body and perhaps even the manifold. When I get a chance to inspect it today I will.
